I’ve owned this bike for several months now. So I know exactly where it shines and where it fails.

In this in-depth review, I will go over the entire unboxing and setup, complete with detailed pictures and video. Then you can decide if this exercise bike is really worth your time and money.

Who is this Bike Designed for?

This bike is ideal for beginning exercise bike users under a bodyweight of 280 pounds. But, also for anyone desiring an affordable, basic, and simple exercise bike.

Unboxing, Packaging, and Setup

The HARISON exercise bike arrived in a large, 80-pound box (as pictured above). Though there was some wear and tear on the sides of the box, overall it was in excellent condition.

Inside of the box you will find plenty of Styrofoam to keep the bike safe during transport. Additionally, all of the pieces were wrapped in plastic or in smaller boxes. A+ job to HARISON for packaging this bike safely and smartly.

Included is a straightforward diagram of the bike, containing a parts list and step-by-step instructions for setup.

Now, I have to admit, I was a bit worried the instructions would be in broken English, knowing this is a foreign-based company. But, to my surprise, the English was written perfectly and is easily understandable.

All tools are included, but make sure you have everything before beginning. If you’re technically handy, the setup shouldn’t take longer than an hour or two. Unfortunately, I am the least technically sound weight lifter in the western hemisphere, so it took me a few hours!

Quick note: Be careful when attaching the console to the handlebar. I rotated the clip on the console too far and ended up snapping it! It still works, but I have to prop it up against the phone holder now.

Seat, Handlebar, and Console

One feature I really like about this bike is the seat. And that’s important because a good seat can make or break an exercise bike.

The seat is 3.5″ thick, well-padded, and comfortable to sit on (even for longer durations like 20-30 mins). The outer material is a breathable, soft PU leather. The seat is not too rigid or hard, but has a slightly “spongey” softness to it.

As far as the size, it’s pretty large, which I like. It’s about 8 inches wide and 10 inches long, perfectly big enough to fit bums of almost all sizes!

The seat can be adjusted both horizontally and vertically. It’s as simple as a twist of the knob.

To adjust horizontally, use the knob attached to the horizontal bar. To adjust the height of the seat, use the knob attached to the white vertical bar.

Adjusting it vertically was no problem, but it’s pretty difficult to adjust horizontally. You kind of have to “hammer” it into place. However, HARISON did include a small bottle of oil which I would definitely recommend applying to help loosen it up.

Setting up the handlebar was the longest part of the setup process for me. It took awhile to get everything into place, but if you’re technically savvy it will be a breeze.

You can adjust the height of the handlebar easily with the knob attached below it.

The phone/tablet holder is 10 inches wide, which is plenty of space to fit a wide variety of devices.

Personally, I would’ve liked to have a small armrest portion of the handlebar, but unfortunately that’s not included. However, it does include a heart rate monitor on both handlebars.

And this brings us to the console:

This nifty little device allows you to track the following metrics:

  • Time
  • Speed
  • Distance
  • Calories
  • Scan
  • Pulse

Just a simple push of the button is all takes to toggle through each modality. And I’ve had no issues so far. Simple and effective.

How Does it Ride?

The red adjustment knob below the handlebar allows you to adjust the level of resistance. And you can push it down as an emergency brake.

There’s a wide range of difficulty, from virtually zero to feeling like you’re dragging two concrete legs under water!

So far, it seems like using a moderate level of resistance is the best for cardio purposes. Putting the resistance too high makes it too much of a leg workout. But if you get it just right (in the middle) you can strike a nice balance between legs and cardio.

I’m not a huge fan of the toe strap pedal, as it feels a little awkward. However, the pedaling experience itself is smooth. And you can adjust the straps to get a snug fit for your feet.

There’s no hitch while pedaling (even at fast speeds) and the bike is totally stable with zero wobble, so long as it’s on flat ground.

This is ultimately the most important feature of the HARISON exercise bike. The ability to use this over and over as an effective piece of cardio equipment depends on its “rideability”. And HARISON definitely got it right on the money here.

Is the HARISON B1850 Exercise Bike Worth Buying?

As I mentioned, if you are a beginning exercise bike user with a bodyweight under 280 pounds, then this bike is an excellent option.

I took a look at several other bestselling exercise bikes on Amazon in the same price range. Most either have a 35 or 40 pound flywheel, and a 280 or ~300 pound maximum weight capacity. So, the HARISON exercise bike B1850 stacks up well on paper.

And, after putting it through several months of use, I can now say it works in real life just as well!

With the quick, straightforward setup, as well as excellent customer support and warranty from HARISON, this bike has a lot going for it.

For a basic, affordable beginners bike, you cannot go wrong with the HARISON B1850!
