Who is this Bench Designed for?

Anyone! From newbie lifters to washed-up meatheads (like myself), this bench more than gets the job done. For the price point, you aren’t going to find many flat benches built with this sort of quality and durability. And the high (1,000 pound) weight capacity seals the deal. This is a serious bench!

Moreover, Finer Form is a well-known and recognizable brand in the fitness industry. And the bench is under warranty for one year.

My Experience Using the Finer Form Foldable Flat Bench

Packaging/Assembly, and Set Up

The bench arrived packaged well with a few minor tears on one side of the box. But the bench itself was in flawless condition.

Zero assembly is required to get going. The bench comes with the legs folded, so you immediately get an idea of its space-saving ability.

There are two screw bolts included which secure the bench in its unfolded position:

These are (thankfully) super easy to screw and unscrew. Simply unfold the legs and screw each bolt into place. The whole process takes about thirty seconds.

Main Features

Strength and Durability

By far, my favorite feature of the Finer Form Foldable Flat Bench is just how sturdy, strong, and stable it is. As soon as you unbox it and set it up, you can feel how well-built this bench is.

The 4-way frame, constructed out of high grade steel, immediately gives you the impression this is a bench which can take a beating. And though I haven’t actually tested the max weight capacity of 1,000 pounds, I have zero doubt it can actually handle that much weight.

With my other bench, I expect a bit of wobble when using heavier weights. Not with the Finer Form though.

I’ve done heavy dumbbell rows, dumbbell bench presses, curls, and triceps extensions. And the bench sticks to the ground like glue. It’s perfectly designed for heavy weight lifting.

Additionally, the rubber end caps on the feet help keep the bench firmly rooted to the ground, and this avoids scratching the floor.

Comfortability and Cushioning

The three inch thick high density backrest cushioning is firm and strong. Depending on your preferences, it may be a bit too firm or hard for some people. For me, it has just the right amount of softness so it doesn’t feel like you’re laying on a slab of concrete.

Because of how firm it is, the Finer Form bench seems quite durable. Upon using it I immediately got the sense this bench was going to last for a long time.

I like the 12 inch width of the backrest pad, which isn’t too narrow nor too wide. And this allows you to rest your back comfortably when performing bench presses. I don’t know about you, but I hate benches where you feel like you’re going to fall off one edge because it’s too thin. Or ones which are so wide your legs feel uncomfortable.

At an average size of 5’10 and 200 pounds, this bench fits me perfectly.

Foldability and Weight

As I mentioned before, two screws are included to make the bench foldable for easy storage. After measuring the folded dimensions, I found you save 10 inches in height when it’s folded down.

The bench is also light (27.5 pounds), making it easily transportable. When I’m done using it, I simply unscrew the bolts, fold it up, and put it in the corner of my small studio apartment.

And the light weight is even more impressive given how high the weight capacity is.

Summary of Features

• Strong, sturdy, and stable with zero wobble
• High quality steel, 4-way frame construction
• 1,000 pound weight capacity
• Thick and durable high density backrest cushioning
• Perfect (12 inch) backrest pad width
• Easily foldable which saves you 10 extra inches of space
• Easily transportable due to its light weight

Potential Downsides

No product is perfect. And I’m yet to find the perfect bench.

But, I really had to be fickle when trying to figure out what is wrong with this one. Because, honestly, it’s hard to find any serious downsides.

One potential issue is the firmness of the back pad. Like I said, for some people it may come off as a little too stiff, kind of like laying on a board. However, the more weight benches you’ve used, the more you can distinguish the right amount of softness they should possess. And I think Finer Form hits the bulls eye here with just the right amount of softness.

But, ultimately it will be up to personal preference.

Another potential gripe is the bench sits a little high off the ground at 18.5 inches. Most flat benches are around 17-18 inches. So, this isn’t a super tall bench, but I’d estimate if you are 5’6 or below, it’s probably going to too high off the ground for you.

Pro Tip: don’t leave your weights sitting on the bench for too long or they will imprint into the covering like mine did (you can see it in the picture of the backrest cushion above). Doesn’t affect the functionality of the bench, only the aesthetics. But it’s worth mentioning!

Summary of Downsides

• Backrest pad might be too firm for some peoples’ tastes
• A little on the tall side at 18.5 inches, recommended minimum height is 5’6
